Drum Corps

  • Responsibilities
    • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the financial needs of the organization, including annual giving campaigns, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grant applications.
    • Event Planning: Plan, coordinate, and execute successful fundraising events, with a focus on engaging donors and creating memorable experiences. This includes overseeing logistics, budgeting, and post-event evaluations. Provide support for direct mail campaigns including but not limited to material pick up, assembly, and mailing drop off.
    • Donor Cultivation: Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and key stakeholders. Implement donor cultivation strategies to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with the executive team, board members, and program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals. Collaborate on the development of compelling messaging and materials to support fundraising initiatives.
    • Data Management: Utilize donor management systems to track and analyze donor information, contributions, and engagement. Ensure accurate and up-to-date records for reporting and future outreach.
  • Qualifications
    • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and flex-time when necessary
    • Proficiency with office technology, Microsoft Office required
    • Proficiency with marketing and fundraising tools such as Canva, and Mailchimp.
    • Exceptional communication skills (listening, oral and written)
    • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills
    • Demonstration of ability to manage multiple projects in an organized manner that involve a variety of stakeholders and moving parts and produce timely, accurate work with a positive and professional demeanor

Position Overview:
We are looking for volunteers and professionals to join our Health and Wellness team for the Summer 2024 season. This team plays a crucial role in supporting the physical and mental health of our performers during the demanding and exhilarating drum corps experience.

Responsibilities:
– Provide medical support and first aid as needed during rehearsals, performances, and travel.
– Assist in the development and implementation of health and wellness programs for performers.
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff to ensure comprehensive support.
– Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all corps members.
– Conduct health assessments and screenings as required.

Qualifications:
– Licensed Athletic Trainer, Sports medicine specialist, Certified fitness instructor, registered nurse, or medical providers preferred. 
– Experience in sports medicine, emergency medicine, or a related field is a plus.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Passion for the performing arts and a commitment to the well-being of young performers.

Commitment:
Volunteers will be needed throughout the Summer 2024 season, including rehearsals, competitions, and travel. We are looking to help fill out our schedule for all of Spring Training and our National Tour.
All travel expenses paid with minimal commitments.

This position assists in the operation of the drum corps’ audio system, performing maintenance as necessary for day-to-day operations, and overseeing the proper use and care of all audio equipment. The Audio Engineer will will report to the Audio System Manager and candidates must be 21+ to apply.

Preferred Skills in one or more of the following:

  • Experience in live sound 

Optional Skills in one or more of the following:

  • knowledge/experience with marching groups preferred, but not necessary

Compensation Range

  • Compensation will vary based upon experience and time spent on tour with the corps. Hiring multiple candidates, all paid positions

Anticipated Dates:

  • The season starts the first week of June and ends the second week of August, and we are looking for team members to help fill this schedule.

We are looking for creative, passionate individuals (photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and social media managers) to help document our season and create digital content to share with the world for our 60th anniversary!  The Media Team will report to the Director of Marketing and Candidates must be 21+ to apply.

Compensation will vary based upon experience and time spent on tour with the corps, as well as additional projects completed remotely, but all positions for the media team are paid.

  • The season starts the first week of June and ends the second week of August, and we are looking for team members to help fill this schedule.
  • You will not be expected to be on the whole tour!
  • Working hours and schedule are very flexible.

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Mandarins Brass Internship! This position works directly with the Mandarins Brass staff and #DragonBrass hornline. Brass Interns will will report to the Brass Caption Head and candidates must be 21+ to apply. There is a position for one high brass intern and one low brass intern. This is an opportunity to co-teach & learn from full time brass staff, develop leadership & teaching skills, see the processes of an entire brass training program from start to finish.

Preferred Skills in one or more of the following:

  • Previous DCI marching/teaching experience preferred, but not required

Compensation Range

  • This is a paid internship, with a compensation of $1000 for the season.

Anticipated Dates:

  • 1-2 In-person camps
  • Pre-season training involvement (video assignments/private lessons)
  • 2-3 weeks in summer.

Job title – Visual Instructor
Description – Instruct marching members on visual style, movement, and technique with an emphasis on movement that enables proper playing technique.
Requirements – A background in marching music, preferably with some dance experience.

Music Academy

The Mandarins Music Academy (MMA) serves music classes to over 1,000 students at more than 40 elementary
school sites in the Sacramento/Elk Grove region. The MMA Program Director oversees all program planning,
operations and logistics, overseeing a team of Assistant Program Directors, Music Directors, Administrative
Assistants and Music Advisors. The Program Director will also communicate and collaborate with district
representatives, parents and school personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities

The MMA Program Director’s general responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • -Scheduling Music Class Days, Times & Locations per School
  • -Music Director Recruitment, Clearance/Onboarding, Training & Management
  • -Warehouse and Instrument Delivery Planning & Distribution
  • -Musical Instrument Management (Inventory Tracking, Repairs, Ordering, etc.)
  • -Event Planning (Music Director Trainings & Honor Bands)
  • -Budget Management & Payroll Submission

Skills/Requirements

  • -Strong organizational, interpersonal, planning & communication skills
  • -Able to work and make decisions independently
  • -Degree and/or extensive background in Music/Music Education/Performance greatly desired
  • -General saviness with technology and ability to learn new database processes
  • -Familiarity with using email, spreadsheet, word document and video calling applications
  • -Ability to manage a team of 30+ individuals
  • -Conflict resolution skills
  • -Ability to lift various instruments (from flutes to percussion/bell kits)

The Mandarins Music Academy is actively recruiting Music Directors to teach these elementary school programs. We are seeking music educators and musicians who are interested in a rewarding job giving the gift of music to the next generation of musicians.

Our focus is to “Give the Gift of Music” to school age children. While many organizations are talking about the need to expand music education in schools, we are making it happen.

Requirements

  • Passion and Proficiency in Music
  • Ability to Engage and Instruct Elementary Students
  • Availability to consistently teach at least two afternoons or mornings per week, September through May.
  • Willingness to develop your teaching methods under the supervision of the Director of Mandarins Music Academy and Music Advisers.
  • Transportation to teach at the assigned school.

Wage:

$40-55 per session taught

Anticipated Start Date:

The beginning of the school year, early September
