During California’s unprecedented wildfires, the Mandarins supported CAL FIRE’s Air Tanker Team by providing over 3,600 meals, prepared in our “Mushu” mobile kitchen and the Mandarins Music Center. We delivered meals directly to the team at McClellan Air Force Base. An Israeli firefighter team also enjoyed our meals!
The Air Tanker Team handles DC-10 aircraft which drop massive amounts of fire retardant to stop fires. As you can imagine, the firefighters perform grueling work in protecting lives and property. We were honored to provide the nutrition to fuel the crews. Meals included meatloaf & mashed potatoes, turkey wraps, pulled pork sandwiches, tri-tip, ham & cheese sliders, fresh fruits & salads, baked beef burritos, chicken salad croissants, and more. Thank you to our Fandarins who provided homemade cookies as a special treat for the Tanker crew.
CAL FIRE’s Joe Tyler said, “Thank you for taking such great care of our CAL FIRE staff, the pilots, flight crews, and other aviation staff. Your services provided were perfect for the mission. Look forward to seeing you out there again! Thanks for your service!” And Bobby Jay of the Tanker 914 Crew stated, “Thank you Sacramento Mandarins, your meals were awesome and very appreciated!”
