Teach Elementary School Students in the Elk Grove Unified School District

We are proud to announce that our Mandarins Music Academy entered into an agreement to support band programs at all 42 elementary schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD).

The Mandarins Music Academy (MMA) began with Program Director Jim Tabuchi’s vision to “Give the Gift of Music” to elementary school students. It began five years ago with 11 students at one elementary school. The program quickly grew and with this agreement we anticipate enrollment for this district-wide program to be over 1,100 students.

At the MMA we have developed a unique music education system that includes Music Directors, Music Advisors, a standardized curriculum, a proprietary “MMA Karate Belt Band Method,” Jupiter and Mapex instruments and optional honor bands.

To support this effort we are pleased to make the following personnel announcement (see bios here):
 
Jim Tabuchi, retired Mandarins President and CEO, has agreed to come out of retirement to become the MMA Program Director. 
 
Ryan Lee has accepted the position as the MMA Assistant Program Director. Ryan has the perfect background to co-lead this program. He is a Mandarins Alum and a member of the Mandarins drum corps visual staff. In addition, he has experience in human resources, business management, music performance, and teaching in performing arts. 
 
Jim Mazzaferro is the MMA Music Advisor Director. Jim has been involved with the MMA since its inception in 2016. He has helped to create the curriculum and to recruit and coach MMA Music Directors. Jim is one of the most sought after music educators with over 40 years of experience as an award winning educator, clinician, adjudicator, and conductor. In this expanded role he will be overseeing our Music Advisors, who are some of the most experienced music educators in our Sacramento region. 
 

The Mandarins Music Academy is actively recruiting Music Directors to teach these elementary school programs. We are seeking music educators and musicians who are interested in a rewarding job giving the gift of music to the next generation of musicians.
