The Sacramento Mandarins was formed during a period of great racial divide in America. Founded in 1963, this week we celebrate our 58th Anniversary. That was the same year Martin Luther King Jr gave his “I Have a Dream” speech and the Alabama church bombing killed four children. The Mandarins was founded to provide a wholesome activity for children of Chinese descent when other activities might not have been open to them.
Fast forward to today and we strive to be a beacon for diversity and inclusion for all. We condemn the racism that was experienced 58 years ago and today we stand together against racism and hatred toward Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
